Jan Edgerton

Jan Edgerton has been an active trumpet performer and music educator in the Greater Kalamazoo area for many years. She served as Director of Bands for the Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools where she received numerous Excellence in Education Awards and was recognized by Governor Engler as a finalist for the State of Michigan Teacher of the Year. Jan retired from G-A to accept her current position with the Marshall Music Company as an Educational Service Representative. In addition, she has been the Director of Advanced Band and Advanced Brass Ensemble for the West Michigan Homeschool Fine Arts. Jan is a highly sought-after brass instructor, clinician, guest conductor, and adjudicator.

As a performer, Jan was the principal trumpet for the Kalamazoo Concert Band for 36 years. She is also a former first cornet with the Brass Band of Battle Creek and served as director and first trumpet for Proclamation Brass music ministry. Jan currently performs as principal trumpet in the Academy Street Winds.

Jan holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Western Michigan University and Master of Music in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music and Western Michigan University.
