Beverly Butts Guthrie has performed and taught Oboe Clinics and Chamber Music Ensembles throughout Michigan.  Along with her Duties at Kalamazoo College, Ms. Guthrie is currently Oboist for the South Bend Symphony Orchestra.   She has performed with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Toledo Opera Association Orchestra, Bach Festival Orchestra, and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra.  

Beverly Guthrie holds Bachelor of Music Performance and Bachelor of Education degrees from the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Her principal teachers were Elaine Douvas- Metropolitan Opera, Elizabeth Camus- Cleveland Orchestra, John Mack- Cleveland Orchestra and Devere Moore- Chicago Symphony.  Ms. Guthrie also teaches for the Crescendo Academy in the Music Together Program for the Portage, Comstock and Kalamazoo school systems.  Along with her teaching schedules, she works with her husband, Mark Guthrie, in the family business, Precision Classic Timpani.
