Dr. Joanna Steinhauser, violinist, is a violin instructor at both Crescendo Academy of Music in Kalamazoo and at The Citadel Music and Dance Center in Benton Harbor, Michigan, where she teaches over 35 students of all ages and levels. In 2010 she was a visiting Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at Kalamazoo College, and continues there as Artist-in-Residence.

A devoted performer as well as teacher, Ms. Steinhauser enjoys all varieties of performance opportunities. As part of the Steinhauser/Tung violin and piano duo, she has given recitals throughout the United States and Europe, including Interlochen, Michigan, St. Louis, Missouri, Roanoke and Newport News, Virginia, Cáceres, Spain, Clermont-Ferrand and Regat, France. She performs regularly with the Battle Creek Symphony, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra and Lansing Symphony Orchestra, and was acting concertmaster for Battle Creek Symphony in 2011.

In December 2009 she received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Louisiana State University, where she studied violin performance with Kevork Mardirossian and Espen Lillenslatten.  Originally from Benton Harbor, Michigan, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Kalamazoo College as a violin student of Dr. Barry Ross, graduating cum laude with Honors in music, and a Master of Music at Michigan State University where she studied with Dmitri Berlinsky.
